Vow Financial celebrated its first birthday earlier this year. The company, which was formed after a merger of National Brokers Group, The Mortgage Professionals and The Brokerage, has enjoyed a successful 12 months in business and representatives of the three previous aggregator families -- Muzi Dandachli of Prolink Finance, Louis Kovanis of Genius Loan Solutions and Carl Hauschild of Select Mortgage Finance were on hand to join in the celebrations. WA-based Mortgage Solutions mortgage broker, Sandra Joseph, has been named as an '11th Hour Ambassador' for Ovarian Cancer Australia. Sandra, 49, teamed up with Perth's Lord Mayor, Lisa Scaffidi, at Perth Town Hall to deliver an awareness-raising message to Australian women. "If we can raise awareness and help save the life of just one woman, then we will have helped to make a difference," she says. It may be true, but the majority of us never get arou nd to realising our in ner potential. That can't be said of NSW-based Mortgage Choice broker Maureen Johnson, however, who's had children's books published both here in the UK and the US. Her first picture book, Noah's Garden, was published last year, and has just been put on the 2011 NSW Premier's Reading Challenge List. All royalties are being donated to the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. Johnson has also w ritten and published 16 books, the majority of which have been for the education press. Before joining her husband, Peter, in his mortgage broking business in 2009, Johnson -- who w rites as Mo Johnson -- spent 20 years as a teacher, which she says gave her great insight for her book Boofheads, which is a story about three 17-year-old boys.
